Standard lockouts start from £39 callout plus the cost of the work (most are entry-only, no parts needed). I quote the full price on the phone before I leave — no "£39 to get here then £150 once I'm holding the pick". If the door needs non-destructive entry only, that £39 is usually all you pay. Out-of-hours and weekend rates are flagged up front so nothing sneaks onto the invoice.

If you're in the Manchester city centre postcodes (M1, M2, M3, M4, M15), I'm usually with you inside 15 minutes. Anywhere in Greater Manchester it's typically 30 minutes — sometimes faster depending where I already am. When you ring I'll give you an honest ETA based on traffic and current job, not a made-up number to keep you on the line.

All of them. Euro cylinders, mortice locks, rim locks, night latches, UPVC multi-point gearboxes, digital smart locks, padlocks, safes and auto keys (transponder and remote fobs). I carry stock for the major brands — Yale, ERA, Avocet, ABS, Ultion, Mul-T-Lock — in the van so most jobs are finished in one visit.

A British Standard BS3621 lock has been independently tested to resist picking, drilling and bumping attacks. Most UK home insurance policies require BS3621 locks on final exit doors — if yours don't have the British Standard kitemark stamped on them, your policy may be invalid. I'll check what you've got during any visit at no charge and tell you whether you're covered.

Both. Emergencies are our bread and butter but a big chunk of work is planned — new tenant lock changes, post-break-up full rekeys, security upgrades on anti-snap cylinders, landlords needing new locks between tenancies. Scheduled jobs are usually cheaper because there's no out-of-hours premium, so if it's not urgent it's worth booking in.

Yes. After a burglary I document everything — photos of the damaged lock, the forced entry point, the old cylinder — and provide a proper itemised invoice with my insurance credentials. That's what your insurer will need to process the claim. I've done this enough times to know what they'll ask for, so you don't have to chase anything back.
